Owl Reese's Pieces Cake (Thanksgiving Dessert 3)

Owl Reese's Pieces Cake
Prep: 30 Minutes
Bake: 35 to 40 minutes
Cool: 1 hour
Yield: 12 servings

3/4 cup butter, room temperature
3 eggs, room temperature
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 1/2 cups milk
2/3 cup Reese's Pieces

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line bottom of 9 inch springfoam pan with waxed paper. Lightly grease bottom and sides of pan.

2. In a large bowl beat butter on medium speed until smooth, about 30 to 35 seconds. Add sugar 1/4 cup at a time and scrape sides of bowl after each addition. Continue beating until light and fluffy, about a total of 5 minutes.

3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add in vanilla and almond extract, mix just until combined.

4. In a medium bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Alternate between flour mixture and milk as you add into butter mixture. Begin and end with the flour mixture. For each addition beat until well combined. Beat the batter until smooth, about 2 minutes. Fold in Reese's Pieces and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick entered in center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for about an hour before decorating

For the decorating I used Vanilla Buttercream frosting dyed Duff Gold Color Gels and piped with a Wilton #363. For the owl I used Gourmet Writer Markers and drew it on a 9-inch circle cut fondant.

Coat with your favorite buttercream frosting
